Name of Artist: Adam Des Jardins
Dates of Artist’s Life: Born July 22, 1993
1. Personal Background:
One of Adam’s important life events: Adam finding an old unused disposable camera in his room when he was 16. Another important life event was studying abroad in Dakar, Senegal. Grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Went to the University of Michigan for 4 years and graduated with a degree in sociology. Traveled all around the world.
2. Style:
Painters he adores include: Paul Cézanne, Helen Frankenthaler, Hieronymus Bosch, Egon Schiele, and Kerry James Marshall. This artist’s work have many different visual characteristics. I think Adam’s style is in some images fantasy, one artist that’s style matches some of Adam’s image is Salvador Dalí.
3. Philosophy:
Adam has 3 major ideals behind each of his pieces of art. One of Adam’s major ideals is capturing quick fleeting moments that show human nature and all it's craziness. This capturing of fleeting moments include quiet scenes in everyday life. Another one of Adam’s main ideas behind his art is attention to detail. In his words he says, “I love me some detail!”
4. Influences:
I like how this photographer takes scenes you see in your everyday life and turns them into art. He also pays extraordinary attention to the smallest of details. He does an outstanding job of capturing the emotions in the image. I strive to pay close attention to details as he does. I also try very often to capture the feelings/emotions of the moment I take my photos.

6. Compare and Contrast:
Carlina vs Carter: In Adam's "Carlina," there is a girl holding raspberries wth a box full of them. In my “Carter,” there are a couple differences, there is a boy instead of a girl and he has strawberries instead. They both have little green bins within a larger box.
Grandma's Shadow vs Carter's Shadow: In Adam’s “Grandma’s Shadow,” there is a grandma walking on brick with a wheelchair. In my “Carter’s Shadow,” there is a boy walking with crutches. They are wearing similar outfits with white shoes, grey shirt, and black pants.
Adri vs Terrisca: In Adam’s “Adri,” there is a woman facing toward the sky soaking up the sun. In my “Terrisca,” there is a woman doing the same thing whoever instead of a blue building the building is brick. They both have a vase with pink flowers in the window of the building.
7. Personal Artist Statement:
Carter: In “Carter,” there is a boy, my brother, who is holding strawberries. When I was taking this picture I ran into the problem that my brother didn’t want to hold the strawberries because he, “doesn’t like them.” I never asked him to eat them and touching them isn’t going to make you taste them so you’re fine.
Carter’s Shadow: In “Carter’s Shadow,” there is a boy, my brother once again, who is standing with crutches to mimic a grandmother with a wheel chair. I ran into the problem that Carter doesn’t know how to listen to words I’m saying. Get over yourself dude.
Terrisca: In “Terrisca,” there is a woman, my mother, who’s head is facing the sky. When I was taking this picture I ran into a problem. I would tell my mom to do something and she would just start laughing. “Tilt your head,” I would say *Laughing,* “Quit laughing this is my final project,” * Laughing.* I don’t know how I got it done.
